Launched IN-STEAM, a European project to redirect science education towards an inclusive and accessible model
The project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme and involves institutions in Italy, Spain and France

Redirecting scientific education by incorporating social inclusion as a cross-cutting theme is the main objective of IN-STEAM (An INnovative pedagogical method for an INclusive STEAM education), a project funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme. This initiative will be developed over the next three years and involves institutions in Italy, Spain and France.
The consortium, coordinated by Pleiadi (Italy), is composed of Fundación Descubre (Spain), Traces (France), the Sensociencia team from the University of Almeria (Spain) and the Istituto Comprensivo di Montecchia di Crosara e San Giovanni Ilarione (Italy).
The project, which began with a first meeting held in Almeria (Spain), is part of STEAM education, an educational approach that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics to encourage critical thinking, creativity and problem solving through interdisciplinary learning experiences. In this way, the project is working to develop a different model of science education that is accessible to all students and therefore takes social inclusion as a cross-cutting theme.
In line with these approaches, the first objective of IN-STEAM is to achieve an inclusive and accessible STEAM education by designing an innovative and inclusive pedagogical method, as well as accessible and attractive experimental activities that rely on generative Artificial Intelligence for their development and implementation.
As its next step, IN-STEAM aims to prepare educators through training activities on how to implement the newly developed pedagogical method. The ultimate goal is to transform school education by involving the educational sector and raising awareness about the importance of integrating inclusive practices into STEAM.
All in all, IN-STEAM action’s goal is to enhance science education by emphasizing several key aspects (such as providing skills, abilities, and tools, developing capabilities, and raising awareness), in order to facilitate the creation of inclusive classrooms.
The project ‘An INnovative Pedagogical Method for INclusive STEAM Education’ (IN-STEAM) is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, with Grant Agreement number 2024-1-IT02-KA220-SCH-000257719.
